Meet Dr. Dhakchang
Genuine compassion is a simple yet essential element of our health care system. I love practicing dentistry because it gives me an opportunity to practice care and compassion and make a true difference in the lives of people in the real world, day after day. With a true emphasis on a holistic approach, I don’t fix a set of teeth but treat my patient as a whole person. I understand that each person is unique with different life stories, experiences, and a unique set of challenges and that is the reason I provide a very personalized care to every patient. It gives me a great sense of accomplishment and satisfaction to provide a high level of care and comfort to my patients and help them to continue to improve their health through education and prevention.
As a health care professional, I believe that gentle, compassionate, and high-quality dental care increases a patient's comfort and satisfaction, lowers treatment costs, and improves oral health outcomes and quality of life. To me, working toward these goals with a lifelong passion for care, sense of concern, and warm-heartedness allows me to be a successful dentist and take pride in a successful practice every day of my life.
Education and continuing education
- Doctorate of Dental Surgery, University of California San Francisco, CA
- Bachelor of Science in Molecular & Cell Biology, University of Washington, Seattle, WA
- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, University of Washington, Seattle WA
- Associate of Science in Biological Science, North Seattle Community College, Seattle WA
I am honored to have received my Doctorate of Dental Surgery from UCSF, one of the most prestigious dental schools in the country. Prior to my career in dentistry, I worked on a research project in cardiovascular disease at the UW School of Medicine and also helped contribute toward another research project on seizure disorders at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Dentistry is an extremely rewarding and a dynamic profession. Developments and techniques are constantly changing. I strongly believe in continuing education, because it allows me to stay current and on the cutting edge of dentistry. To keep up with the latest advancements in dentistry, I regularly take continuing education courses to help me provide total and comprehensive oral care to all of my patients.
Commitment to community
I’m passionate about helping others in whatever way I can. My family and I believe that giving to the less fortunate and sharing a little of what we are blessed with, anywhere in the world where help is needed, is one way we can make our lives a little more meaningful and connect with people in our own little way. In today’s fast-paced world, everyone seems to be too focused on themselves, but I believe that there is a strong need to take some universal responsibility and shift some focus to others.
I have volunteered with Medical Teams International’s Mobile Dental Clinic Program and will continue my participation in years to come. Additionally, my family and I have initiated and been actively involved in a project to help over a hundred very poor and needy individuals, mostly elderly and children, in India for the last 13 years. I’m very blessed to have the opportunity to send charitable contributions to some very poor families in India consistently to help with their basic necessities of life. I hope and look forward to initiating and working on many more such projects in my lifetime.
Outside the office
Tibetan by origin, I was born and raised in exile in a small town in northern India. I immigrated to Seattle in 1996 and I live with my wonderful parents in a beautiful neighborhood of Seattle. My parents and I share strong family values and have a beautiful bond that is only getting stronger as time is passing by. We are very grateful for the precious opportunity in our lives to continue being together and be there for each other.
My time outside the office is occupied with traveling, outdoor activities, my beautiful family, and enjoying the simple pleasures of life. Find me on Google+.
